A Message Shared to Members on 11 September 2019
As you are aware, the Barbados Customs and Excise Department is currently undergoing a transition from ASYCUDA ++ to ASYCUDA World, which went live on Monday, September 9th.
As part of our mandate to serve as a liaison between the government and the private sector, the Executive Committee of the BCCI and the Chair of our Customs and Trade Facilitation Committee met with the new Comptroller and Deputies on Friday September 06, 2019.
The areas discussed at the meeting included, inter alia:
- Access to ASYCUDA Portal;
- Warehousing Concerns;
- Lack of Communication; and
- Tariff Concerns
At this meeting the Customs and Excise Department requested that members of the private sector allow the Customs & Excise Department several days to resolve all the challenges that are being experienced during the transition process.
The BCCI will continue to dialogue with Customs and the ASYCUDA World Project team on these matters and concerns as you raise them during this week. In this regard, please submit your challenges and concerns to [email protected] so that we can continue to make representation on your behalf to Customs and the ASYCUDA project team.
